'Taste of Money' is one work in a series of reflections on capitalism that interprets the characteristics of 'money' using the sense of taste. The artist continually questions the universality of the art world and strives to create works that engage the senses of taste and scent, in addition to sight and hearing, which are primarily used in art.
‘Taste of Money’ consists of three layers. The outermost layer is milk chocolate, the second layer contains salt, and the innermost, third layer is made up of spicy chili paste. The artist conveyed the idea that "Money can bring pain and sorrow, even though it looks sweet on the surface" through a sensory metaphor. 'Taste of Money' is a piece that should be savored and melted slowly. The artist's intention is not for the work to be consumed, but to be expelled.
The video below documents the process of experiencing the "Taste of Money." While the same taste is provided to everyone, individuals have different sensory experiences, and in most cases, show discomfort. However, some can be observed enjoying and savoring the "Taste of Money.”
